It was TY’s last day and we decided to do something new instead of having dim sum lunch at Carlton hotel Wah Lok restaurant.

Dim sum cost only $4.50 per plate. The colours were bright and the ingredients extravagant (imagine having lobster meat in a dim sum that cost only $4.50?).

The main attraction is still the brightly coloured dim sum that brightens every office slave’s blue afternoon =)

I had to break up my Kukup trip into 2 posts because there were way too many pictures and I was also waiting for some interesting picts to arrive in my mailbox before I can post them.

Unknown to many people, we can get fireworks in Kukup (illegally of cause)!

We are a bunch of Singaporeans, Kukup is a boring, retirement village. So we decided it needs youngsters like us to shake it up abit.

The amount of explosive we bought with the intention to blow up Kukup   Pao! for the first time in my life! kong ming den!

My camera batt had to die at this point, so i had to kapo photos from my travel mates to show off on my blog!

 

A Slow Weekend in A Fishing Village (Part 1)

Over a long weekend in April, I decided I needed a get away, a get away from the mounting work, a get away from the boring weekends at home, a get away from it all. So I joined a group and headed to Kukup.

Much to my surprise, three out of five friends do not know where Kukup is. Just in case you are one of those who do not know where Kukup is

Kukup is a small fishing village located about forty kilometres southwest of Johor Bahru, in the district of Pontian, Johor, on the Strait of Malacca in Malaysia. It is famous for its open-air seafood restaurants built on stilts over the water. Some of the restaurants are geared for tour groups, and it is particularly popular with tourists from Singapore. Regularly scheduled ferries connect Kukup with Tanjung Balai in Indonesia.

It was a simple 2 days 1 night affair. Day 1 started of with us boarding a chartered bus. The bus took us to a Go-Kart Centre in JB. I never tried Go-Kart before, I was one of the first to hop onto the Go-Kart! The photo says its all:

It took us another 1.5hs drive to reach Kukup itself. We stayed in one of those bungalow resorts built on stilts over the water.

  In between 2 resorts  See the stilts. the remains of some wooden walk way that leads to the jetty. Nobody dare to walk on it of cause.  the new and the old  Kelongs in Black and white, you cant see anything here because I am trying to be arty.   Sunset in Kukup  Paparazzi!

I can still smell my own puke as I write this. Once again, its Pinky and her great ideas that we should head for a girls’ night out last Friday. She even convinced me to leave the car at home so that we can get ourselves intoxicated without worries.

We headed to The Wine Co at Dempsey cos there were 2 zai nv in the group who have never been to Dempsey.

We ordered finger foods since they looked more appetizing and I we flushed it down with 3 bottles of wine, one lychee white, one New Zealand white and an African red.

Desserts at end because I was too lazy to walk over to Ben & Jerry.

New Century Pull Out

I decided to do a compilation on the New Century fall out since it’s relevant to my trade.

What came to my surprise was a grossly inaccurate article by The Corporate Observer on the roles of the different professionals in this case. Before today, I have not heard about this website.

But I strongly believe certain information in this article making references to certain professionals need to be clarified.

1. SGX does not interview the major customers. Major Customers are interviewed by the issue manager, with the solicitors to the invitation in attendance.

2. The auditors/reporting accountants are not the ones responsible for digging out subsequent events or on-going litigations. In every S-chip IPO, there is a set of PRC lawyers engaged on the team, as well as solicitors to the invitations and solicitors to the issue managers. There are the experts involved, so its not the auditors’ fault.

It does not matter whether the PWC auditors here are from Singapore or from China, but one thing for sure, the accounts are signed off by a Singapore Partner. The files should have been issued based on Singapore standards. The writer is simply trying to find fault with everyone irrelevant to the case.

3. As for the book-orders, these are forecasted figures. There is no way to audit forecasted figures. Auditors may look at signed agreements but that is about it. There is no way auditors can tell if a signed agreement was subsequently cancelled because no customer will come and indicate cancelled on the company’ file copy of the contract. More importantly, auditors do not issue opinions on book-orders!

So much for “seeking to raise the standard of journalism in this region, giving readers timely and in-depth analyses on economic and business news of the day”.

Instant Rice Cake Cups

  

Ok, I bet you do not understand the title. Neither do I. I bought some new liquor from DFS when I came back the last time. It was some kind of concentrate, if properly mixed, I can even mix my own margarita at home. But I did not because there was no decent juice in my fridge. I could only mix one part with three part plain water. That alone was able to get me pretty high by 9.30pm on a weekday night.

I was bored, I was hungry and I had run out of 辛辣面. Then, I remembered my rice cake cup noodles I brought back from Zhejiang. In case you are not aware, Zhejiang area is famous for rice cups, or more affectionately known as nian gao.

Some how, this brand caught my attention because it has used 蜡笔小新 as its spokesperson, 费 enough! But there was no toys included =(

 

What surprised me even more after I opened the package was the rice cakes were packed in a separate plastic bag.

Like every other instant cup noodles being sold in China, it comes with a disposable fork. So, when are Singapore instant cup noodles manufacturers going to follow suit?

It was an interesting eat but I doubt I will ever crave for this again. The soup taste like 康师傅红烧牛肉 less the spiciness, a very Chinese taste.

But I had fun, in a drunken state =)

I have not been updating my blog lately because I have way too many things on my mind

I am bothered by the amount of work that is piling on my desk plus I have been thinking of where I want to head to next.

I already have an idea but I cant share at the moment.

I do not want to be one of those who talked too much but never live out their dreams.

I am a strong believer of living my dreams.

Life is really all about knowing the right people only.

Back to reality

My ranking has obviously dropped. I am finally home. You must be kinda surprised why I did not blog at all during my last trip.

I was busy. I was tired.

I drag going back to reality tomorrow.

I yearn for days where I can sit around at home, leave the office before sunsets and meet friends for dinner after work.

I need to feel the pain for another 2 weeks before I get to run away from it all again =(
