My topics are boring; they are always about me being at the gate or me trying to pack for a trip. I guess those are the only “ME” time that I really have in this miserable point of my life.
I have forgotten about baking, I have forgotten about how much I would love to attend simple classes to make beautiful cakes. Luckily I can still admire Xiong’s masterpieces =p
I am heading to Shenyang this morning, via Beijing. It has been exactly one year since I last step foot on Beijing Capital Airport. I miss Beijing! I am supposed to spend a day there before returning to Singapore at the end of this month. That’s something to look forward to =P
And yes, I still have many episodes of 守着阳光守着你 to catch up with, plus the plenty of new legitimate disc I will bring back with me this trip.
Its already April but the weather out there is only a mere 3 degrees. I am wearing my fleece and my leather trench within the airport terminal. Its cold in here, not sure if its because the central heater has already been turned out.
I expect Shenyang to be much worse later. What makes things worse is I have checked in my gloves and hats and scarves.
I am trying very hard to start working on my laptop, The spirit is indeed willing but the flesh is weak =(

At least I remember to bring my soul to the airport. I keep forgetting yesterday was Saturday, today is Sunday!
I had to constantly remind myself that I must not buy perfume today because I only brought a hand carrier.
No purchase means no free coupon which also means no subsidized breakfast
Then I realized the airport is such a boring place. I already had my morning coffee at home. I just wanted porridge. Much to my aghast, I can’t find porridge anywhere near the gate.
I need to work towards earning back my Krisflyer Gold! They serve porridge in the lounge (or at least I hope they still do)

Do not ask me why 2645 because I will be reluctant to tell. Because you will bash me up if I say the truth.
Anyway, I did the usual at the airport, i.e. check in early and went shopping. I usually spend enough to exchange for a voucher to be used in the airport, enough for me to exchange for a free breakfast.
So it did not come to me as a surprise when the sales girl handed me my receipt with a token and directed me to the centre area to redeem my voucher. What surprised me was I WAS HANDED A STACK OF FIVE VOUCHERS INSTEAD OF ONE (which is equivalent to SGD 25). I was so shocked, I exclaimed right at the counter, ‘ How come so many? Not one only meh?’
I got a reasonable and satisfactory answer but its censored cause you will beat me up if I were to type it out here.
Five vouchers for SGD 25 weren’t a lot for a shopaholic. What bothered me was I had already finished my shopping, I merely wanted to be a cheapo, to get a SGD 5 voucher to exchange for my morning coffee.
I decided to have my morning dose of caffeine first because while working out how to utilize the remaining vouchers.
I always wanted to buy a samsonite back pack. I always thought there was a samsonite shop within the terminal but as all shopaholic knows, things are somehow never there when you want to buy it.
So there was plan B. I walked to the cosmetic shop with the remaining vouchers in hand and asked for a bottle of tinted sun block. The lady, saw me holding my vouchers in hand, told me, ‘Ma’am, you can only use one voucher per receipt.’
Me: What? But I have a stack of them?
And so, there was plan C. I walked into Watsons because I was running out of time. I decided no liquids since they are heavy and requires ‘secured’ packaging.
Guess what I bought?

4 packs of sanitary pads at SGD 5 per pack!
I am such an ass.

Somehow each experience at the gate is different. This time, I ran into a colleague at the DFS and found out she is taking the same flight with me.
The first thing I did, when I had a quiet moment to myself, was to sms my staff in Quanzhou to make absolute sure the driver picking me from the airport is not just holding a paper with my company’s name. If I board the wrong car, arrive at the wrong hotel and meet the wrong team, I am truly going to be the mockery of the decade.
Think my admin has a lot to improve, they need to be more open as to who is on which flight….

Here i am again, at the gate, wating to board the aircraft. This time its not for work. its for pleasure.. I am heading to Japan – Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo, Hakodate and Sapporo, to be specific.
After the last couple of years, i have grown immune to taking the plane. Shopping at DFS has become a routine. I buy a bottle of perfume each time i depart, and i lugged back enuff liquor within the allowed limits each time i return, to last me till the next trip.
Its a midnight flight, so i know i am going to ask for cup of noodles later. I am going to drink enough alcohol to make myself fall asleep fast. I am going to apply my face mask when the lights are off. I am going to feel horrible when the lights are turned on for breakfast.
As a consolation, i booked myself a room in swissotel osaka because i want a place that will take me in when i arrive early. because i need a shower each time after a red eye flight. becuase i need a nap after the shower and because i want to feel comfortable when i am on holidays =)
