ya, i finally attended my 1st rally yesterday, it was the WP’s rally at hougang… suppose to meet JW at the rally site which i later found out was an extremely bad idea!!!
i had dinner at home, had targetted to leave my house at 7… but being the usual me, i dillied dallied. i even made myself a cup of coffee after dinner. i tot there was no need to reach so early since my main purpose was to hear low thia khiang speak. since he is the best, he will most prob be speaking last? my theory makes sense right?
ok, after much nua-ing at home, i finally left the house at 7.45pm. the journey from my house to tampines interchange to hougang interchange usually only takes 30 minutes… I GOT THE SHOCK OF MY LIFE WHEN I REACHED TAMPINES INTERCHANGE AND SAW THE Q FOR BUS SERVICE 72 STRETCHING FROM THE BERTH TO MACDONALDS!!!!!
There was already a bus at the berth but it definately not enuff for everyone to board lor… I joined the Q, by the time the bus was filled up, i was still Q-ing outside the metal railings…argh… I called JW and told her I was going to very very late… that was 7.45pm.
the guy behind me was also going to the rally, he heard him call his frens to ask if they were anywhere near the rally site… apparently not…
I waited for the bus… and waited… and waited
wah lau… half an hour liao lor, still no bus in sight??????
then the malay auntie in front of me asked me,’ i think there is no 72 in the carpark also lei…. everytime where got wait so long one?’ then i went,’ yalor yalor, 72 very fast one. u going home or u going for rally?” then auntie went.’ tonight got rally meh? where?’ then i went,’ tonight rally at hougang lor… workers’ party one, thats why the Q so long…then auntie went,’ no wonder lah’
then suddenly we saw 2 bus service 72 from hougang turning into the interchange!!!! siao liao… must be massive jam there lor, all the buses stucked in hougang, cannot come back…
I sms-ed JW to tell her I will be even later… she reached liao, asked me whether i really want to go cos all the roads leading to the rally site were badly jammed…
wah lau, i Q-ed half an hour liao, die die also must go lah….
another 15 mins passed, the bus finally came…8.30pm liao… by the time i boarded the bus, there was only standing space… tmd! i stood all the way from tampines to hougang lor
never mind, at least i was on my way liao….
the traffic still looked ok along tampines road, maybe the jam eased liao…
wrong again lor!!! the moment the bus turned into hougang from tampines road, i was literally stucked there lor… at this point JW happened to call. she told me to get off the bus and walk in the direction everyone is walking…
cannot lei… nobody walking outside… everyone in the bus was looking out of the bus, suppose they were also trying to figure out if there was anyway they can walk lor…
I think the bus only moved 100m every 10 mins…
9.10pm liao… suddenly i saw endless stream of people walking in the same direction!!! I sms-ed JW ‘ i am getting off liao’
alot of people got off the bus, suppose they also figured its faster to walk…
after i got off, i realised there were alot of people standing in front of me lor… can hear people giving speech also… eh, so zhun, i was at the rally site liao!!!
but so freaking many people, how to find JW in the crowd?
i called her. i was standing at the junction of hougang ave 4 and serangoon, she was at the junction of hougang ave 4 and ave 10 lor… wah opposite ends lei…
aiya, never mind lah, we come here listen to rally one… never meet also never mind. anyway meet to listen together only mah… we going home in the opposite directions anyway…
ok lor, so i stood ard and listen to the rally on my own
wah piang eh…. why is this field so big? i couldnt tell where the stage was! when i finally saw the stage, i dunno whether i was facing the front or the back of the stage!
dun care lah, just listen… some guy was speaking in chinese, rebutting the PM why he cannot be case chairman and stuff… his speech quite candid lei… ST or CNA will never reproduce the entire speech one…
9.25pm liao… still got people streaming in….. i stayed on… wanna hear Low thia khiang talk…
9.30pm… YAY its finally his turn…
TMD!!! he spoke in teochew!!!! i dun understand a single word. but the moment he went on stage, everyone cheered…. people will just cheer after every few sentences… wah they really love him lei…
I really dunno what he was talking about lei… thou i hoped i understood… i happened to turn ard and saw a bus 72 going in the tampines direction… wah EMPTY one…
i see the crowd… i think if i wait until low thia khiang finishes his speech, i can only board the 10th bus 72 that comes after that lor… CMI! i better run now….
i boared the next bus 72…. that was 9.40pm liao… the jam wasnt that bad anymore
by 10.10pm, i was sitting in front of my tv screen, watching the news…
